- Hey,
I'm a self-financed writer-director looking for a DaVinci Resolve editor and colorist to finish my third short, Late Night at the Waffle. It's a 15–20 minute narrative piece about a bunch of misfits stuck in a diner overnight. Fun, weird, full of heart. Built for festivals, not feeds. I'm doing the first two cuts myself. I need someone to take it from there — refine the edit, then color it. What I need Real short-film instincts. Festival-cut sensibility. Not a content creator. Not a YouTuber. Not a corporate reels person. DaVinci Resolve fluency on both editorial and color. Ideally one person doing both. I'm open to one person who runs deep on one side and solid on the other. Someone who actually likes director's notes and knows how to collaborate. I'm decisive but I'm not precious. If you've got a strong instinct, I want to hear it.
- 3–4 week turnaround
Taste for the strange. I want someone who likes original, out-of-the-box choices inside a real story. Not music-video-crazy. Not quirky-for-quirky's-sake. Genuinely odd in a way that serves character. Budget $500. I know that's lean. Negotiable based on experience, work ethic, and guaranteed milestones we agree on up front. Everything in writing. I pay on time. I respect the work. One important heads-up The production sound is rough. That's getting cleaned up by a dedicated sound designer after picture lock and color. I need an editor who can extend grace to the project at this stage and not get derailed by rough dialogue tracks in the cut. Trust the process — sound is being handled. A bit about me This is my third self-financed short in under two years. Previous shorts have done well on the festival circuit — Good Luck Charm won Best Comedy at the Texas Short Film Festival, The Lottery was a finalist there. I treat collaborators like collaborators: clear scope, written agreements, real respect, no nonsense. There's also a feature in development with distribution interest already attached, and the right edit team here is someone I want to keep working with. To apply, send
- A reel or 1–2 links to short narrative work you've cut and/or colored
- A sentence or two on the kind of work you actually want to be doing right now
- Your rate and availability for a 3–4 week window
LA-based or remote, both fine. Reply with WAFFLE somewhere in your subject line so I know you actually read this.
- Let's make something good.
