- Unlocked Media is looking for a Supervising Editor to help oversee and guide the editorial direction of an ambitious long-form
- YouTube documentary series focused on law enforcement, human behavior, and immersive real-world storytelling.
This is not a hands-on editing role. Instead, we are looking for someone who can help lead a team of editors, shape storytelling quality across episodes, oversee pacing and retention, and help create a strong editorial workflow and creative culture.
- This role is ideal for someone who deeply understands documentary storytelling and YouTube audience behavior — and enjoys leadership, collaboration, and helping creatives grow.

We are looking for someone who
- understands YouTube viewer behavior and retention

- This person will act as the primary editorial support system for the editing team and help bridge communication between editors and -the Creative Director.

The Supervising Editor will
- Oversee editorial consistency across episodes
- Review cuts and provide creative feedback
- Help shape pacing, intros, and story structure
- Guide editors through revisions and problem-solving
- Assist with editorial workflows and organization
- Help maintain quality control across the series
- Collaborate directly with the Creative Director
- Serve as the main editorial point of contact for the editing team

Editors will receive
- Adobe Premiere Pro project files
- Synced footage and audio timelines
- Organized production assets
- Footage/activity logs
- Raw documentary footage
Episodes typically
- run approximately 40–55 minutes
- include roughly 2–15 hours of raw footage per shoot day
We are looking for someone who
-Has experience leading or mentoring editors
- Understands long-form documentary storytelling
- Understands YouTube pacing and viewer psychology
- Can identify strong hooks and engaging intros
- Is highly organized and communicative
- Can balance creative quality with production timelines

- This role is less about technical editing execution and more about leadership, storytelling oversight, creative direction, and editorial management.

Position Details

Q&A
-Is this a full-time role? No. This is a freelance remote position.
-Does this role involve editing episodes directly? No. This role is focused on editorial leadership, oversight, creative feedback, pacing guidance, and supporting the editing team. However, there may be some editing required in order to achieve desired outcomes.
What are the turnaround expectations? Our goal is to release episodes weekly. The Supervising Editor will help maintain editorial quality and support production timelines across the editing team.
How many editors will be on the team? Four to five.
Can I on board my own editors? Yes. We encourage it!
When do contractors get paid? We aim to process invoices within 30 days, though our objective is to pay contractors before videos officially release whenever possible.
Is an NDA required? Yes. Due to the nature of the footage and production process, all team members are required to sign an NDA prior to beginning work.
