Illustrator for Childrens Book Series

[Pay is up for discussion]

I am writing a childrens book series, and need simple illustrations for characters in order to build reading proficiency / advance proficiency in literacy tied to CCSS (common core state standards) while involving depth and complexity.

I am accepting applications for my publishment that would include illustrations from underrepresented or underidentifed gifted and talented students. I am starting with ECE - 5th grade artist submissions for my series. All grade level illustrators would be considered, as long as we can showcase the artistic abilities that might be overlooked within our school systems.

My series intends to raise awareness and engagement for cultural groups that are possibly overlooked or not considered for high ability or potential, due to implicit bias from educators. Many think culture means one thing, but discussing culture with all children (gifted and talented or not) is very important in recognizing the importance of who they are, and provides a safe space. I have always recognized a sense of pride with students that feel safe to talk about their individuality and cultural identities.

Race, ethnicity, national origin, first language, religion, SES, LGBTQ++++++, immigration status, mental / physical ability, age, etc. Open to talk about all intersectionality. I would like that recognized in both my stories and the diversity of my illustrators.

If you are a parent, and feel that your childs artistic talent is unrecognized, I would prefer to hear from you and see your childs work. I want to work with illustrators -in partnership- to create a story that best matches the artistic work. The importance is for it to be relatable for students to identify with the illustrations in order to be engaged in literacy and relate to the character(s), or able to appreciate their differences through literacy. This leads to advanced engagement and thus, literacy proficiency through the series.

If you aren't a parent, but are passionate about equitable reading for eduation, I am open to all illustrators.

Please submit me some artifacts through this posting email.

I am open to any questions you might have ! Thank you !
